Varen Technologies is looking for a System Administrator II in support of our prime contract which provides a variety of services to include back end web application development, COTS implementation, custom software support, basic server support and coding changes and enhancements to existing systems. This will be done within a full life cycle environment.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to

  • Will be supporting a system that comprises ~30 servers across multiple networks.
    • Duties will include applying software upgrades, keeping servers updated with latest security patches, monitoring performance, fixing any server related issues, looking for areas of performance improvements, and working with the high-level administration of applications.
  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
  • Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
  • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
  • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
  • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

 The System Administrator

 

Shall be able to perform all of the following indicated tasks:

  • Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
  • Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
  • Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
  • Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems
  • Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers
  • Optimizes system operations and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning
  • Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution proces
  • Provides in-depth experience in trouble-shooting IT systems
  • Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Provides detailed analysis and feedback to agency management and internal customers for escalated tickets

Qualifications

Ten (10) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity within the Federal government is required.

 

BS from an accredited college or university in a technical degree field is required.

 

No Degree?  No worries -  Five (5) years of additional system administration experience may be substituted for a Bachelors Degree.

 

Clearance:

 

Must Possess an Active TS/SCI/Poly for immediate consideration

 

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI/ Poly clearance is required.

 

 

Experience with the following Domain Area(s) is further required:

 

Demonstrated experience is required in the Domain Area(s) selected in the table below.

 

Unless otherwise specified in the Domain Area description the three years of experience necessary are as follows:

 

System Administrator Domain Areas

 

Computer Network Operations

Experience with Firewalls, IPSEC, PKI, VPNs

 

Information Assurance

Experience with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs)

Experience Administering Web Servers, to include Apache, IAS, IIS, JBoss, Tomcat, Web Logic, SunB2B

 

Information Technology

Experience with the following Operating Systems: AIX, IBM    Mainframe, Linux, Solaris, Windows and Virtual Machines

 

Other

Experience with Help Desk support tasks to include creating user accounts, granting permissions, and responding to trouble tickets
